Library Update
Whew! May was a busy month for the ASR School for Early Learning. We hosted gardening experts from the OSU Extension office and the Franklin Park Conservatory to educate our families on gardening and growing vegetables. The school also welcomed children’s book author Carmella Van Vleet to talk about her book, You Gotta Meet Mr. Pierce about Columbus artist Elijah Pierce.
There will be lots of changes in the library over the summer! Through an Ohio Department of Education Innovation Grant, the school was able to purchase new shelving and furniture for the library space which will be installed in early July. We will also be purchasing new books and literacy tools for our library and classroom collections with ODE literacy grant funding.
Miss Sarah will be on vacation from June 8 – 14th so the library will be closed those days and there will be no family storytime on June 13th. Please see the events calendar for more information about June programs. Coffee Connections and Ulti-mutt Readers will take a summer hiatus and return in the fall.

End of the Year Celebration
Thank you to all our families for coming together (for the first time in three years!) to celebrate the end of the school year and our kindergarten-bound children! We will transition to summer programming including water days, picnics and lots of enrollment transitions until our 2023-2024 school year commences on August 23. We were thrilled to share songs, food and fun with all ASR families and celebrate our accomplishments together!
School Water Day Fun
Summertime means water days! During the months of June, July and August, classrooms will follow the schedules below for water days. We have fun in shallow baby pools, sprinklers and water toys on the playground and in the courtyards.
Please send swimwear, including waterproof shoes, for your child. We will provide towels. Teachers will wash swimwear after every water day and they will be kept in your child’s cubby. If your child arrives later than 9:30 am on assigned water days, please plan time to get them changed into their swimwear using the classroom bathroom as we may already be outside!
