Pre-K Vision Screenings
IMPORTANT CALENDAR CHANGE
Our End of the School Year Celebration will now be held Friday, May 30. On that date, school will close at 3:30 p.m. so that families can join us for a short graduation ceremony for kindergarten-bound children and then fun, games and food until 5:15 p.m. Please download a PDF of the updated calendar here for your convenience.
NEWS
Vision Screenings for Pre-K students on Thursday, March 20

The Ohio State University College of Optometry will be conducting free vision screenings for all students in preschool classrooms the morning of March 20. This is simply a screening, not a full exam, but results will be made available to all families, along with resources if a further consultation with an optometrist is recommended. More information will be provided in mailboxes the week of the vision screening, including an opt-out form if you do not want your child to participate.
Library Update

In February we celebrated Black History Month with a book giveaway featuring picture books that center Black history and Black identity. We also had a sweet Valentine’s date with Miss Cascade (Ultimutt Readers’ therapy greyhound), and we made adorable valentines for our families.
Coming up on March 24th, we have an exciting Dino Day event where we will welcome paleontologists from Ohio State’s Orton Geological Museum to share some prehistoric fossils with us! There will also be a dino-excavation station and dino crafts. Check out the Events Calendar for more details.
Kindergarten Registration and Enrollment
If you have a child who will be age-eligible for kindergarten in the fall, now is the time to enroll them in your residential school district or other kindergarten option! Some districts, including Columbus City Schools, also have school choice options which end March 31.
If you have questions about kindergarten enrollment or would like additional support with kindergarten transition, please reach out to ASR Social Work Interns Gianna (deanley.1@buckeyemail.osu.edu) and Maia (kover.16@buckeyemail.osu.edu).
2024 Impact Report

Each year, the Schoenbaum Family Center — which operates ASR — issues an Impact Report in conjunction with our research partner the Crane Center to discuss the previous year’s achievements and community engagement. The 2024 Impact Report is now available as a PDF download. Learn more by clicking here.
