Music & Movement With Miss Ashley
ASR teacher Ashley Keener — “Miss Ashley” — provided a recap of all of the fun families are having during her monthly Music & Movement program, which started in September:
“I’m so excited to share music class with our ASR families! It’s been a great opportunity for the children to explore different musical concepts through singing, dancing and playing instruments.
“We have explored how to keep a steady beat, and we learned the songs ‘Big Fat Biscuit,’ ‘Naughty Kitty Cat’ and ‘Pumpkin, Pumpkin.’ The children were introduced to the flute, piccolo, and piano, and they also had the opportunity to hold the piccolo and play the piano.
“We explored different movement ideas through singing and dancing. During music class, we also read a music themed book, and so far, we have read Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star and Zin! Zin! Zin! A Violin.”
Library Update
Book Bundles were distributed in late November. Please reach out to Sarah via email (simpson.962@osu.edu) or by stopping by the library if you have any feedback about your titles.
We had a lot of fun family programs that took place in the library in November including our Music & Movement class with Miss Ashley (discussed above), Cascade the reading dog’s 10th birthday celebration as part of our monthly Ultimutt Readers program, and our Family Crafternoon.
Look out for more fun programming to come in the new year!
Winter Weather Notifications
It is that time of year when snowy, icy or other inclement weather conditions may impact school and other daily routines. In case of severe weather closure or delay, our automated system will send each family a text/email informing of closure or delayed start. Please ensure that your family’s phone number and email are current in our system; you can stop by the front desk to inquire at any time.
It is important for young children to explore the snow and winter weather! When the temperature allows (above 25 degrees), classrooms will go outside, if only for a few minutes. Please dress accordingly in winter weather clothing and label hats, coats and other warm weather items. Help to keep track of your child’s clothing and accessories by labeling each with initials or name!
