STEAM Events Series Spotlight

OSU’s BUGmobile made a visit to ASR and our students and some community members got the chance to see some pretty interesting insects and arachnids up close and personal! This event was the latest in our STEAM series that focuses on building your child’s STEAM skills. This fall’s series will feature a visit from Sarah Bonser, a local architect, who will talk about what she does and there will be some hands-on activities for families. We will also welcome Innosanto Nagara, author of A is for Activist, to the school on Friday, December 8th for a late afternoon for Q & A and a book signing. Each child will receive a copy of his book.

Look for more fun STEAM-themed events and take-home activities after winter break!

Native American Heritage Month

November is Native American Heritage Month. To celebrate, there will a book display of books by indigenous authors outside the library. If your family would be interested in doing a program during upcoming heritage months or if you would like to honor a holiday that your family celebrates, please contact Sarah at Simpson.962@osu.edu. Sarah does the program planning and preparation for heritage programs so there is not a huge time commitment on the part of families.

ASR Fall Assessments and Family Conferences

Thank you for everyone to take time to meet with teachers in October! We truly value partnering with you on your child’s educational journey, and family involvement is a key to a child’s school success! Formally scheduled family conferences will net be available in May; if you would like to meet with your child’s teachers during the school year, we are happy to make an appointment to do so!

HOLIDAY RESOURCES

If you would like support in accessing these or any other resources listed here for the holidays, please contact ASR Social Work Intern Ari Dillard at dillard.130@osu.edu or call her at 614-247-7007.
