Ohio State College of Optometry Vision Screenings

On Thursday, March 20, the graduate students in The Ohio State University College of Optometry visited to give preschool students eye exams. Preschoolers were very excited, with one child exclaiming, “I get to go to the eyeball doctor!”
Library Update
Teacher Appreciation Week is May 5-9. The school administration has planned a week of activities to celebrate our hard-working and dedicated teaching staff. If you are interested in volunteering your time to help with preparation of these activities, please contact Sarah at simpson.962@osu.edu or stop by the library.
Dino Day

On March 24, paleontologists from Ohio State’s Orton Geological Museum shared some prehistoric fossils for our Dino Day. Craft activities encouraged students to decorate drawings of dinosaurs, including using those drawings to make hats. Students also participated in an excavation, searching for play dinosaur bones in sandboxes.
Kindergarten Registration and Enrollment
If you have a child who will be age-eligible for kindergarten in the fall, some districts, including Columbus City Schools, will begin contacting families for kindergarten lottery placements at the end of April. Decisions must be made quickly if your child receives a spot in multiple elementaries, so if you would like additional support with kindergarten transition information, please reach out to ASR Social Work Interns Gianna (deanley.1@buckeyemail.osu.edu) and Maia (kover.16@buckeyemail.osu.edu). Please let your classroom teachers know of your final decision.
Thank You to Our School Social Work Interns, Gianna and Maia!

Gianna and Maia will complete their social work site placements at our school in mid-April as Ohio State’s spring semester comes to a close. They have provided tremendous support to the school through their coordination of school events, kindergarten transition and classroom work with young children. We wish them all the best as Gianna graduates this semester, and Maia moves on to complete her social work coursework at Ohio State!
